  • This workshop was developed for IPsyNet Representatives and their ally and partner organizations to use. The opening comments say that others are welcome to use it too, with attribution to IPsyNet and ETR.
  • You will see that the final product is co-branded with IPsyNet and ETR logos. This is because the workshop uses some intellectual property for which ETR owns the copywrite (Well-Being and Resilience Model). It is also co-branded because our consultant when far and above what we actually were able to pay for the amount of original work that it required. And, it is co-branded because ETR is extremely excited a about this workshop and will be promoting it through their networks, nothing that while written specifically for LGBTQI+ activists and allies, the core substance of the workshop is relevant to other stigmatized groups and communities.
  • You will see in the opening information in the Facilitator Guide that it designed to be very flexible in terms of adapting to cultural variations, so long as helping to ensure the main learning objectives are achieved. This is true also for the graphics used in the PowerPoint slides. If you have more culturally suitable imagery, feel free to make changes. Likewise, there are a number of mindfulness activities throughout the workshop, and ideas for more in the supporting materials. You might have others that are a better fit for some groups and you are welcome to use them instead.
  • Obviously, this workshop was developed for a context where people could safely come together for an in-person experience. For much of the world, that will not be possible for some time to come due to the CORONA-19 pandemic. That said, we have the great good fortune that many IPsyNet Representatives and their colleagues work in academic settings and have already had to retool their curricula for an online, virtual context. We hope as you consider how you might be able to offer this workshop with your advocacy communities, you will be able to share your ideas for adaptation with the rest of the network. A big thank you goes out to Prof. Dr. Mechthild Kiegelmann, at the Karlsruhe University of Education, Germany, for working to conduct the workshop online with some of her students in just a few weeks. We can all look forward to what we might some of her students in just a few weeks. We can all look forward to what we might learn from that.
  • And a word about language. The workshop was developed in English, but so long as the facilitator (or facilitators) has fluency in written English, we hope they would able to deliver the workshop in the language of the participants. This would involve either translating the few hand-outs or explaining them, and the same with the slides.
  • Finally, we will want to know what the participants and facilitators found most helpful or could be improved. I plan to soon turn soon turn to revising the feedback materials that were developed for the first iteration of the workshop that was piloted in 2017 and 2018.
  • Please let us know if you are considering implementing the workshop so we can support your as much as possible and we can learn from your experiences.
